Opening Ceremony
Join us as we officially open Deaf Festival Sydney 2025 with a vibrant celebration of culture, community, and creativity. Hosted by Martha Rundall, the ceremony features a Welcome to Country, a sneak peak at what's in store for the festival, a contemporary dance by Amelia Kroehnert, a special message from our Platinum Sponsor, and a performance by NextSense students.

Preshow Dancing with Phoenix
A smooth solo performance to Rema and Chris Brown's Time N Affection, this R&B slow jam dance blends fluid grooves with relaxed precision. Focussed on vibe over narrative, the choreography celebrates rhythm, flow and style, similiar to the rhythm of Auslan storytelling and the flow of sign language.

El Show De Chavi - Mime Performance
Javier, known as “El Show de Chavi,” is a Deaf comedian from Spain who tells hilarious stories using only his body and expressions—no words needed! He’s performed all over the world and now brings his playful, energetic stage show to you. Come and enjoy his live performance!

All aboard for fun at the Activties Tree. Join the NextSense Early Intervention team for Auslan nursery rhymes with a transport twist - from choo-choo trains to zooming planes! Don’t forget to grab your free plane to take home!

Village Collage by Amy Wright
Come add your mark on a drop-in art workshop for all ages. Facilitated by artist Amy Josephine Wright, together we will create an art installation, themed ‘Deaf Village’. Using recycled materials, create your home to add to the ‘Deaf Village’, adding your individual touch to a collaborative artwork.

How to Draw Like Gonketa!
Explore your favourite signs and handshapes in this one-hour drawing workshop with Deaf artist Gonketa. Open to all ages, you’ll learn how to capture movement from still hand poses and bring them to life through expressive lines. Discover your style of drawing hands!

Air Dry Clay Workshop by Kirsty Collins
A fun workshop, taught in Auslan, for Deaf parents and children to learn how to make objects using air-drying clay, connect with each other, and develop new skills.
